Director of Pediatric Electrophysiology & Device Therapies

In partnership with CareerPhysician, the Department of Pediatrics at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital (RBC) and The Congenital Heart Collaborative (TCHC) are conducting a national search to identify candidates for Director of Pediatric Electrophysiology & Device Therapies to join their expanding Division of Pediatric Cardiology.

- Candidates for Director of Pediatric EP & Device Therapies will be considered at any current academic rank, but preferable consideration will be given to those at or near the Associate Professor level or higher or to those who are at least 4 years beyond post-fellowship training.
- Must be board certified and/or board eligible in Pediatric Cardiology.
- Must have completed a 3-year pediatric cardiology fellowship as well as one additional year of training in Pediatric Electrophysiology.
- Should have considerable experience in arrhythmia management, invasive electrophysiology, and ambulatory monitoring
- Strong commitment to fellow education and quality improvement is preferred.
- Must be eligible for medical licensure in Ohio.
- The Pediatric EP program at RBC provides comprehensive non-invasive and invasive services, including electrophysiology studies, RF ablation, cryoablation, and device implantation.
- The dedicated EP lab is housed within the RBC cath/EP hybrid suite and includes a state-of-the-art Canon Infinix-I biplane fluoroscopy system with low radiation exposure capabilities, 3D mapping system, radiofrequency, cryoablation, and contact force ablation systems.
- The Pediatric EP lab has dedicated and experienced staff to assist all procedures, including those performed on both pediatric and adult patients.
- Dedicated EP and device clinics exist both on our main campus and at nearby satellite health centers with a multidisciplinary team approach to the treatment of both fetal and adult congenital arrhythmias.
- The RBC Heart Center has 21 faculty members (12 pediatric cardiologists, 5 Cardiac Intensivists, 2 Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeons, and 2 Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologists), nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, pharmacists, and others dedicated to serve the patients of Northeast Ohio.
- The RBC Heart Center and the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Heart Center in Columbus, OH have partnered together to form The Congenital Heart Collaborative (TCHC). TCHC is a dedicated service line with a common executive administration and functions as one program on two campuses with the commitment to expand access to high-quality comprehensive cardiac care regardless of patient age to the communities they serve while equally embracing a scholarly and educational mission. The Director of EP at RBC will be encouraged to work with and will be supported by the Pediatric EP faculty at Nationwide Children’s to standardize practice and optimize QI and educational opportunities.
- The RBC Heart Center has an ACGME accredited pediatric cardiology fellowship program with two fellows per year. The opportunity for teaching and fellow participation in clinics and during invasive procedures can be an expected benefit of the position.
- The Heart Center at RBC has a beautiful, dedicated cardiac stepdown unit with remote telemetry monitoring in each private room.
- Planning is underway for a brand new state-of-the-art Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit that is immediately adjacent to the hybrid Cath/EP suites and the stepdown unit with plans for opening in 2023.
- The Heart Center at RBC is extremely dedicated to quality improvement, and the Director of EP and Device Therapies will be well supported in their efforts to develop a safe and highly reliable EP service.
- Faculty appointment will be at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine with rank commensurate with experience and credentials.
- Clinical research opportunities abound within the UH/RBC/TCHC enterprise and basic science/translational research opportunities through collaboration with the Departments of Engineering and Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University are well-supported.
- UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital is a 244-bed, Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and principal referral center for Ohio and the surrounding region. RBC is physically connected to both the adult main hospital and MacDonald Women’s Hospital, which allows for seamless access and transition of care for all of our patients.
