Pediatric Electrophysiologist Opening at Norton Children’s Hospital, University of Louisville, Louisville
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology and Norton Children’s Heart Institute in Louisville, KY are seeking an invasive Pediatric Electrophysiologist to join our practice. The role includes shared responsibilities for inpatient and outpatient electrophysiology care with 2 pediatric electrophysiologists (Dr. Christopher Johnsrude and Dr. Soham Dasgupta), APRN and 2 nurses. The program offers a full Electrophysiology Service, including interventional procedures, and inpatient, outpatient, and telehealth consultations, and genetic counseling. Norton Children’s Hospital is the only free-standing children’s hospital in Kentucky, and has a 17-bed CICU and inpatient telemetry throughout the hospital with remote monitoring. The interventional EP laboratory is a biplane cine-angiography laboratory outfitted with a Carto-3 electroanatomic mapping system. The program continues to grow and is currently on track to perform approximately 130 cases/year. There are also many opportunities for teaching and institutional and multicenter clinical research.

Candidates must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Cardiology with the American Board of Pediatrics and have subspecialty fellowship training in pediatric and adult congenital electrophysiology. Procedures include intracardiac, transesophageal and intraoperative electrophysiology studies, catheter ablations, and implantation and management of pacemakers and defibrillators as well as interpreting ECGs, ambulatory monitors, and device interrogations. Candidates must be licensed or eligible to be licensed in the state of Kentucky. Ideal candidates would have excellent clinical skills and be solid team players. A strong interest in medical education and clinical research is preferred.

Division of Pediatric Cardiology

Norton Children’s Heart Institute and the Division of Pediatric Cardiology have continued to grow exponentially over the past few years. The children’s hospital is a 300-bed free-standing hospital with an active congenital cardiac surgery program, 2 state-of-the-art catheterization laboratories (a hybrid cath lab adjacent to the EP lab), pediatric and neonatal intensive care units in addition to the CICU, and a cardiac step-down unit. The Division of Pediatric Cardiology currently has 24 Pediatric Cardiologists and 18 Advanced Practice Providers comprising highly collaborative programs in adult congenital heart disease, advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation, cardiac catheterization, and fetal cardiology. The program was ranked as one of the top cardiac programs by US News and World Report for 2023-2024.
