The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking an experienced BC Pediatric Cardiologist with advanced training in Electrophysiology to join our team as the director of our invasive and non-invasive Electrophysiology program.

This identified program leader would join our two pediatric electrophysiologists, and our previous director who is reducing his FTE, for both pediatric and adult congenital electrophysiology. Opportunities include all manner of invasive EP procedures, inpatient and outpatient consultative EP services as well as the education of categorical pediatric cardiology fellows, pediatric residents, and medical students from both the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Creighton University School of Medicine. Our division provides the gamut of pediatric cardiology services, with over 20 faculty, including specialists in advanced imaging, interventional cardiology, heart failure and transplant, exercise physiology, and adult congenital heart disease. We have 14 outreach locations, additional physicians who live and work in surrounding communities and an extensive referral network covering a 4-5 state region. Outpatient clinics include Electrophysiology, Device Clinics, Inherited Genetic Arrhythmia, primarily at the children’s hospital in Omaha, as well a few outreach clinic rotations. All our procedures and admissions are done here in Omaha. We have an active/independent EP Consult service. Children’s inpatient wards (hospital wide) have remote telemetry access via mobile phone and remote logins. We have two dedicated EP nurses, with more than 30 years of experience in electrophysiology. We also have the capacity and administrative support to further expand the team. We have 3 congenital cardiothoracic surgeons, congenital cardiac anesthesia dedicated to our team for every procedure, and two state of the art Catheterization/EP labs. One is primarily used for Cath/EP cases, with biplane fluoroscopy and the other is a hybrid OR lab where we implant most of our EP devices with the installation of a Siemens Pheno system - the first in the world in a congenital application. Our EP lab is equipped with the latest upgrade of Abbott Ensite X to provide our 3D electroanatomic mapping for both radiofrequency and cryoablation cases. We have a longstanding relationship with the ACHD program at the university, and we are expanding our footprint in these procedures. We have cardiac intensivists who provide 24/7 in house care in our newly built, door to door variable acuity cardiac care unit. We are a free-standing children’s hospital, where the new cardiac care unit is just one part of a 500-million-dollar expansion. This doubled our pediatric inpatient capacity and created numerous specialized care units. Our Adult congenital service is separate from the pediatric service and is fully staffed 24/7 with specialized ACHD physicians at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
